Straptek: Your alternative weight distribution system

Straptek: Your alternative weight distribution system

We spent a lot of time talking about the importance of weight distribution and stabilizing control snags. We also talked about finding a quality weight distribution system rather than trying to save some money on a low quality system. Among these top quality systems, Straptek is one of our favorites. Let’s look at the Straptek weight distribution system from Lippert Components.

How Traditional Weight Systems Distribution Works

Before we begin, let’s look at how traditional weight distribution systems work. The standard weight distribution system works using chains and spring bars to spread the load of the trailer weight along the body of the towing vehicle relative to the tail end of your handling vehicle the most of the load.

The chains attached to the elastic bars create tension. The tongue of your trailer will push down on the spring bars while the chains will pull up. The spring bars want to find their default position, so they will pull up on the main body of the weight distribution system. This tension transfers the weight of your trailer along the body of your towing vehicle and a larger part of your trailer creates a balanced handling.

How Straptek works

Straptek uses the same physical basis to aid in weight distribution, but in a separate way. Instead of a series of chains, Straptek uses a winch and ratchet strap system with spring bars to level things out. The basic idea Straptek using these straps and winches to adjust and find the correct tension is much easier than the traditional methods of a chain and a spring bar weight distribution system.

Ease of use

One of the main advantages of Straptek is how easy the system is to adjust. In traditional systems, you could raise and lower your trailer several times before getting the chains straight. Not only is this tedious process, but you can injure yourself while adjusting traditional bar and chain systems which can be under immense stress.

The Straptek can be adjusted with a simple socket wrench. Once your system is in place, you use the socket wrench to adjust the tension on your weight distribution system until you the weight is distributed. In this case, you turn a socket wrench relative to raising and lowering your trailer vehicle and the trailer while adjusting your chains.

Sway Control

Many weight distribution systems also help balance control. Trailer darting is an uncontrolled lateral movement of your trailer and whoever has never fought daring knows that it is one of the number one enemies towing a trailer.

The Straptek system provides excellent domination control. You should use a soft fair treatment in your strings to the traditional distribution of weight to control the swing, and this is much more effective than the absence of control swing, the game is still head a major move. The Straptek winch system does not need this large clearance to distribute the weight and provides superior stabilizing control and a safer towing experience .

final exam

I like Straptek. This is the best way to put it. I am excited about its potential and how it can help new RVers and even experienced ones like me.

For RVers who are not quite done used to adjust their weight of the language and the hitch Straptek makes it much easier to get used to, especially when subtle adjustments. For those of us who have been doing it for a while, I think many will wish they had it when they started.

Straptek is easy to set up and start using once it’s out of the box. It makes adjusting the height of your towing vehicle much easier than having to jack up and down, which can be heavy and cause more frustration.

As the pressure increases, we all have our spring clips snapped in before, and you will always remember the pain that follows. With Straptek, you don’t have to worry about snapping spring bars between your hands, which is something that makes adjusting your weight distribution system easier for new RVers.

Although I did n’t experience any issues with the rocking on my Colorado race test I couldn’t get the mountains with my trailer, say a difference in towing with Straptek compared to my hitch installation and chains . I don’t think it has anything to do with Straptek and that the ride was smooth and windless. When I make my first trip to Wyoming this summer, it will be the real test of the swing control properties of Straptek. I will update this review accordingly.

I am excited by what Straptek can do for new RVers as they are used to provide hitch weight, tongue adjustment and swing control .

How to buy Straptek

Straptek is available in both Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and aftermarket models, so you don’t have to buy a whole new weight distribution hitch to take advantage of the benefits Straptek offers. Straptek’s design also means that it is easier to choose the position to install it if you don’t have to worry about propane tanks or other items on the tongue of your trailer getting in the way.

Straptek winch and strap system are designed to be much easier to install and use than a traditional weight distribution system while providing superior swing control. If you are unhappy with your current weight distribution system or have none at all, consider Straptek keeping your trailer efficient, safe and stable.
